to use the Synapse Sport units
In simple terms think of the
Performance unit as the warm-up device and the Recovery unit
as the cool-down.
Application should not be a substitute for a correct warming up and cooling down regime but should be used to enhance each process. When to use the Synapse Performance
unit
This unit may be used in two
different ways.
If it is practical, the unit may be applied during exercise. Place a treatment electrode pad, one at either end of the muscle or muscle group that will be prone to fatigue during the activity. For example the thigh muscles in cyclists. If it is not practical to use the unit during exercise apply the unit immediately prior to the activity. Remember you can use the Y connector to make a four-pad application so two muscle groups may be boosted simultaneously When to use the Synapse Recovery
unit
Use the unit for 30 minutes after training or competition
(within 0 -2 hours is ideal).
We suggest that it should be applied following a cooling down activity. The unit may be used in two different ways. For specific areas of muscle fatigue place a treatment electrode one at each end of the muscle or muscle group affected. For a general application use the Y connector so that a four pad application may be applied. Place one pad on the top of either foot (from one wire coming from the unit) and a single pad on the top of each hand. fig. 9 Synapse micro-current units are completely safe to use. Pad placement to some extent is subjective. When to use the Tendonworks unit
Tendon problems come in many
different forms and as such required different treatments and
management. What can present as pain, stiffness and loss of
function to the individual can have many different causes.
Therefore, Synapse will only sell the Tendonworks unit to
registered health and medical professionals which ensures that
someone who is suffering with a tendon problem can obtain a
proper diagnosis and as such an appropriate treatment.
The Tendonworks unit is designed to accelerate the rate at which new type 1 collagen (the main tissue in tendons) is produced which will facilitate a quicker rate of repair. To work at its most efficient a properly tailored exercise regime should be implemented along side the Tendon Works treatment protocol. The Tendonworks unit can be used for several different conditions affecting tendon tissue, such as strains, tears, chronic (long-term) discomfort and dysfunction. When to use the Tendonworks Equine
unit
The biggest single cause of tendon problems in horses is
caused by chronic degeneration; that is the gradual, but
constant breaking down of the tendon's complicated structure.
This is a common scenario in horses over the age of 6 years
old where it has been suggested that the normal regenerative/degenerative
cycle of tissue turnover becomes more prevalent in the degenerative
phase. Whilst the cause of this is unknown I would suspect
that a faulty gene which regulates the production of Type
1 collagen is a prime suspect which in effect produces lazy
cells.
The Tendonworks Equine unit is designed to accelerate the rate at which new type 1 collagen (the main tissue in tendons) is produced by activating these lazy cells. This in turn facilitates a quicker rate of repair. To work at its most efficient it is essential that a properly tailored exercise regime should be implemented along side the Tendonworks treatment protocol. Despite this, because of the inherent problem of the weight bearing nature of the most common tendon affected by this pathology, the SDFT, the time to recover from this type of injury is lengthy. Tendonworks Equine units will only be available through Synapse registered equine vets who are capable of implementing and monitoring an appropriate exercise protocol. When to use the Accel-Heal unit
Accel Heal will produce an accelerated rate of tissue repair in skin. The mechanism behind wounds that fails to heal properly or at all is not fully understood and is certainly multi-factorial. The Accel Heal unit can be use on all types of skin wounds and is currently being trailed on chronic non-healing wounds such as venous and diabetic ulcers.
In addition, Synapse has some interesting anecdotal evidence to suggest that it may also be used on reducing the effects of scarring in skin tissue.

How do I pay for my order?
We like to give you plenty
of payment options, so you can use any of the cards listed
in the purchase area.. We also take security very seriously,
so your details will be safe with us. We NEVER store your credit
card details.
All credit and debit card holders are subject to validation and authorisation by both us and the card issuer, to maintain security and prevent fraud. What currencies can I use?
We accept all major currencies

When Will I be Charged?
If your card is authorised,
payment will be taken immediately, and you will receive an
email confirming that your order has been successful. If your
card is not authorised, we'll notify you.

How do I get a replacement or a refund?
If you are in anyway
unhappy with your purchase please contact customer services.
Alternatively, you can return the product to us in its original
condition in the packaging it came in, within 14 days of the
date that you received the item. It must be unopened with any
seal and labelling intact and we will issue you with a full
refund. All returns should be sent to our Head Office stating
the action you wish us to take with your item.
If you think you may have received a faulty product and none of the questions in the FAQ section have helped you, then please contact customerservices@synapsemicrocurrent.com within 14 days of the date that you received the item and we will give you a full refund or replacement. We will process a refund within
3 days of receiving your parcel, and email to let you know
we have received and processed it.
After you've received your email, please allow another 5-10 working days for the refund to be credited to your account. The amount of time this takes will depend on which bank or card issuer you're with, and we have no control over it. We will credit your refund to the same card you used when you placed your order. If we can't do this (i.e. if the card has been declined, cancelled or has expired), we'll send a cheque to your billing address. Why have you not refunded the
delivery charge?
We are sorry, but the delivery
cost you originally paid is non-refundable. If you are returning
items because you have changed your mind, this will also be
at your own cost, and we can't refund your postage. However,
if we sent you the wrong item or something faulty, just contact
customer services and we'll send you a freepost label to send
it back free of charge.

How do I know my if unit is working?
Once you have pressed the
ON button down for 2 seconds, the green ON light/LED will begin
to flash from underneath the front cover of your unit on the
left hand side.
My unit will not turn on. What
should I do?
In the unlikely event that
your unit will not activate, please make sure you have pressed
the button down for 2 seconds to see if it turns on. This is
indicated by a green light flashing through the front cover
of your unit on the left hand side. If this light does not
begin to flash, please contact customerservices@synapsemicrocurrent.com and
we will look into resolving the problem for you.
Why can't I buy the Tendonworks
or Accel-Heal unit?
You can only purchase the Tendonworks or Accel-Heal unit
if you are a registered health or medical practitioner. This
could be an individual that has been through a recognised
course of training and assessment that makes them appropriately
qualified to supply advice and treatment in the areas of health
applicable to the designated use of the unit(s).
If you are a medical or health practitioner, you must sign the medical professional healthcare statement - download here and return it to Synapse via email to - medical@synapsemicrocurrent.com, by fax on 01959 565 281 or post to our Head Office. You will then be able to purchase these units. I am interested in using the Tendonworks
unit but it says you have to be a medical or health practitioner
to buy it, which I am not. What should I do?
You can only purchase the
Tendonworks or Accel-Heal unit via a registered health or medical
practitioner. Therefore, we advise you contact your medical
or healthcare practitioner about the product and get them to
contact us or purchase the product for you as part of their
recommended treatment. By a health or medical practitioner
we mean (and the definition is not exclusive or exhaustive)
an individual that has been through a recognised course of
training and assessment that makes them appropriately qualified
to supply advice and treatment in the areas of health applicable
to the designated use of the unit(s).
I have been using my product and
the green ON light/LED on it does not turn on anymore. What
has happened?
The unit has completed its
treatment course. Please send the unit back to Synapse Microcurrent
Ltd, 1C The Courtyard, Market Place, Westerham, Kent, TN16
1AZ and receive a 15% discount off your next purchase. We will
then dispose of the old unit in an environmentally sound manner.
The green 'ON light/LED on my
product is flashing quickly, more than once every 2 seconds.
What is happening?
When
there is poor contact between the conducting electrode pads
and the skin, the green ‘ON’ light/LED flashes more quickly
at a rate of twice per second. Remedy: clean the skin and
reapply or use fresh electrode pads.
How many uses does my product
have?
-Tendonworks product - 50
uses with 30 minute programmes for each use. The unit will
cease work after it has been used 50 times.
- Accel-Heal product - Single use with a 48hour programme for it's single use. - Recovery product - 50 uses with 30 minute programmes for each use. Tendonworks Equine
The Synapse Tendonworks Equine micro-current unit has a
specific set of treatment parameters that make it suitable
for treating equine tendons and ligaments presenting with
chronic degenerative pathology and acute partial and full
ruptures.
The unit is specifically designed to be used on superficial tendons and ligaments such as the superficial flexor tendon and suspensory ligament. The unit should be used under the direction of a veterinarian or health practitioner. Treatment Plan Days 1 - 5 This totals 15 hours of treatment over a three week period with 5 days of treatment followed by 2 days off. Following the treatment regime we suggest the unit is used once a day for five days (2.5 hours of treatment) every three months. This will provide a further year of cover. Connect an electrode to the
end of each cable leading out of the Synapse Micro-current
Unit.

If you need
to treat an area of the body that requires the electrode pads
to be placed in two areas of the body at the same time see interactive
pad placement guide place one Y cable to the end
of each cable leading out of the Synapse Micro-current unit,
(see diagram below) allowing you to connect an electrode pad
(4 in total) to the ends of these Y cables. You must ensure
you have a positive + and a negative - pair of electrodes at
each target area.
Example of using Y leads to give simultaneous treatment to both legs. Please note the colours below are for illustrative purposes only. All leads are white. It is unimportant whether the + or - pads are located top or bottom. ![]() Using the extenders
If you need to increase the
length of the cables leading out of the Synapse Micro-current
unit, simply connect an extender to the end of each of these
cables and connect the electrode pads to the extenders ready
for use. You can also connect the Y cables onto the extenders
if any extra length required when using this accessory.
